The entry at Silverstone was thankfully a lot better than the previous races, thanks to it being a good training for Le Mans. Porsche brought a works car, which was hampered by brakes which wore far too fast. Other newcomers were the Japanese Dome but more important, Lancia’s long-awaited group 5 car, the Beta Montecarlo. Unfortunately, the car lasted for only 10 minutes since the radiator cap had been forgotten, but the times clocked to that point were promising.
Schurti and Wollek ran into turbo problems, but the second Loos car of Fitz/Heyer/Wollek won the race with ease after the demise of the works 936.
